Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among teens according to the Centers for Disease Control’s Teen Driver Fact Sheet.

Older teens are more likely to be involved in fatal crashes than younger teens. In addition, older teens were twice as likely to be involved in a fatal crash between midnight and 6 am than younger drivers.

1,886 drivers age 15 to 20 died in motor vehicle crashes in 2015, compared with 1,723 drivers in this age group in 2014, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Research shows that when teenage drivers transport teen passengers there is a greatly increased crash risk. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety released a report in May 2012 that showed that the risk of 16- or 17-year old drivers being killed in a crash increases with each additional teenage passenger in the vehicle. The risk increases 44 percent with one passenger; it doubles with two passengers and quadruples with three or more passengers. The study analyzed crash data and the number of miles driven by 16- and 17-year olds.

Drivers age 16 to 20 accounted for 5.5 percent of all licensed drivers, 8.5 percent of all drivers involved in fatal crashes and 12.0 percent of drivers in all crashes in 2014. Seventeen percent of drivers age 16 to 20 who were involved in fatal crashes in 2014 were alcohol-impaired, which is defined by a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 grams per deciliter or higher.

The DOT found that more teenagers are involved in motor vehicle crashes late in the day and at night than at other times of the day. Teens also have a greater chance of getting involved in an accident if other teens are present in the vehicle, according to research from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and State Farm.

36 Percent of 10 – 20 year old male drivers who were involved in fatal crashes where speeding at the time of the crash. NHTSA says that speed-related crashes cost Americans $40.4 billion each year.

Speeding was a contributing factor in 28 percent of all traffic fatalities.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 16- to 20-year olds, according to the National Center for Health Statistics.

Every state has a graduated driver’s license law that includes a three-phase program to help teens to develop more mature driving attitudes and gain experience behind the wheel.

In 2015, 10,625 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes.  1,886 drivers age 15 to 20 died in motor vehicle crashes in 2015, compared with 1,723 drivers in this age group in 2014, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Alcohol-impaired driving fatalities accounted for 29 percent of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities in the United States.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation estimates 1,089,171 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics in 2015. The arrest rate works out to one arrest for 200 licensed drivers in the United States.

Teen drivers ages 15 to 20 are 1.6 times more likely to be involved in a fatal crash, compared to adult drivers between the ages of 35 and 40.

New preliminary 2016 data shared recently from the NHTSA (National Center for Statistics and Analysis) estimates that as many as 40,000 people died in motor vehicles crashes last year, a 6% rise from 2015. If those numbers bear out, it would be a 14% increase in deaths since 2014, the biggest two-year jump in more than five decades. It also means that 2016 may have been the deadliest year on U.S. roads since 2007.

What our Customers Say

“My daughter was terrified to drive. No matter what we did we could not get her behind the wheel to practice. There was always an excuse. With Avanti’s help – she’s safely on the road. It just occured to me that the gal in the office knew what my daughters’ issue was right from the start. We are so happy we went with Avanti.”

Patricia A. Coral Springs, FloridaParent

“Mom had to hang up her keys and her assigned caregiver didn’t have a drivers license to drive mom to the doctors, grocery store and do some errands. Avanti helped us from the very start all they down to finish line. I am confident that my mom will be in good hands driving with her caretaker and I don’t have to worry.”

Roy P. Deerfield Beach, FloridaAdult - Caregiver

“All of our kids went to Avanti and everyone we know goes to them too. My kids drive GREAT!”

Laurie F. Boca Raton, FloridaParent

“We tried a different school in the beginning because Avanti was booked solid and my son was anxious to get behind the wheel. Long story short: We should have waited for Avanti and we LOVE them! Very thorough just like at home.”

Coreen A. UKParent

Karen & Kimberly G. Boca Raton, FloridaTeenagers

“I had surgery and it’s been awhile since I was behind the wheel and quite frankly – I was afraid to drive. I’m very happy and glad that I called them and will use them again if the need should arise.”

Philip G. Lighthouse Point, FloridaSenior/Adult

“WoW! My new name for your school is: AMAZING AVANITI! Teaching our son on our own was not easy for my husband and I. There was always anxiety and that fear of my son hitting something or, making a wrong mistake and endangering our lives was always on our mind. That’s when I saw one of your cars and decided to call. That was one of the best phone calls we ever made and now our son drives us everywhere and there’s no arguing either. Thank you Mark! Thank you Avanti! We will be telling everyone about you.”

Lisa G, Boca Raton, FloridaParent

“Your school is the bomb! Between my husbands schedule and my schedule it was difficult to get in quality driving time for our son Nick. Either we would return from work too late or, other activities got into the way.  Nick aced his road test the very first try – 100% – and zero mistakes. Thank you for working with our goofy schedule and making our son a safe driver.”

Anita H. Coconut Creek, FloridaParent

“I recently moved from NY to FL with my job and haven’t driven in years even though I have a valid drivers license. I also didn’t know my way around and noticed that the transportation system down here is a little behind the times which made me really nervous because I needed to drive to work.  The people in my Florida office told me who to call and I arrived a few weeks early to settle in and begin my lessons which was  scheduled in advance. My instructor Janine was WONDERFUL! With her help I learned the Florida rules (there’s some rules here that NY doesn’t have) and now I know my way around and feel very confident about it too!”

Sara T. New York, NYAdult

“I’ve had my learners permit for many years and I’m an adult. I thought for a long time that I never would get my license until I discovered Avanti from a co worker who used them for their teen. I spoke with the girl in the office who was very understanding and encouraging and she told me she had the perfect instructor for me. I decided to book an appointment and Janine was great. They are patient, encouraging, knowledgeable and true professionals. Without them I never would have gotten the confidence, experience and knowledge to pass the road test. I owe my driving independance to them and very grateful too!”
